STEM careers are the fastest-growing segment of the workforce, and the shift toward renewable energy, sustainable design, and advanced manufacturing isn't slowing down. GEA gives Livermore High students a four-year head start: real engineering software, a dedicated cohort, and a curriculum built around the industries that will define the next decade.
Cohort Model
Every student follows the PLTW engineering pathway, so your core classes stay with the same group for much of high school. That consistency builds support, familiarity, and mentorship over time.
Industry Tools
Students use the same tools engineers use in the field: Onshape in 9th grade, VEX V5 and VEXcode VR in 10th grade, and Revit in 11th grade.
Real Partners
Field trips, guest engineers, and mentorships connect classwork to sustainability and manufacturing work happening right now.
College-Ready Rigor
GEA doesn’t block AP or honors classes. Every course is UC/CSU approved, so students can still build a full college-prep schedule alongside PLTW engineering credit.
Every GEA student takes the PLTW engineering pathway alongside their other classes. That keeps the cohort together for four years while leaving room for AP, honors, and a full college-prep schedule.
Year 1 — Freshman
Intro to Engineering Design
Foundations in drafting, design thinking, and Onshape modeling.
Year 2 — Sophomore
Principles of Engineering
Mechanisms, energy, and VEX V5 / VEXcode VR coding.
Year 3 — Junior
Civil Engineering & Architecture
Structural design and Revit, honors-weighted.
Year 4 — Senior
Engineering Capstone
An independent, portfolio-defining project from concept to presentation.
